Work Experiences

Professor Serša is researcher; he has been involved in translational research in oncology at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana for 25 years. In his position of the principal investigator of the research program, he is in charge of experimental oncology investigations and is particularly focused to biomedical application of electroporation.

His main fields of interest are electroporation in targeted delivery of cytostatics into tumors (the researches have already reached the clinical phase), and recently, electrogene therapy (a research field that has great prospects to be translated into clinical practice).

Besides experimental work, he is actively involved in the education of undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is mentor to research fellows at the Institute of Oncology, lecturer at the University College of Health Studies (undergraduate level) and in postgraduate studies of biomedicine and biotechnics at the University of Ljubljana. He was appointed National Coordinator for Oncology; in this capacity, he coordinates medical researches in oncology.
