Hospital-Based Cancer Registry collects the data on all new patients that are admitted to the Institute for cancer diagnosis and treatment. These data are the source of valuable information for medical work and research at the Institute of Oncology; at the same time, these data are forwarded also to the Cancer Registry of Slovenia, thus upgrading the central database. For the moment, the data processing is performed simultaneously with the data of the Cancer Registry of Slovenia. In the Hospital-Based Cancer Registry, the diagnoses of patients from the hospital are also coded by diagnosis related groups (DRG), according to the requirements of a new system on hospital statistics.
