Medical Advisory Boards
Board for Research and Education
The Board consists of the health professionals and professional associates with doctor’s degree, university teachers, heads of the divisions and, if necessary, heads of the departments or units, medical director, and assistant medical director for nursing – head nurse. The Board of Research and Education discusses the issues related to the research and education in cases when particular issues outgrow the responsibilities of Medical Board. The meeting of the Board of Research and Education is convened by assistant medical director for research and education.
Protocol Review Board
The Protocol Review Board is accountable for technical revision and evaluation of the protocols of clinical researches that are being performed at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana. The members of the Board are:

Committee for Medical Ethics
The Committee discusses and comments the ethical issues of the medical and research work performed at the Institute. It is particularly concerned with the protection of patients’ rights and interests. The Committee is an autonomous body, at liberty to make independent decisions, yet closely connected with Medical Ethics Committee at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia. The Committee consists of the following members:

Committee for Hospital Infection Prevention and Control
Committee for Hospital Infection Prevention and Control is accountable for collecting the data on the incidence and recurrence rate of nosocomial infections as well as on the conditions and factors that increase the risk of their occurrence. The Committee has issued the guidelines for the surveillance of hospital-acquired infections and for their prevention as well as the instructions and counseling on how to prevent further transmission of nosocomial infections during diagnostic, therapeutic and nursing procedures. The Committee is also in charge to design a program for nosocomial infection prevention and control. The Committee’s activities are supervised by the National Committee for Prevention and Control of Hospital Infections at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia.

Enlarged Medical Board of the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana
Enlarged Medical Board of the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana consists of the heads of divisions, departments and units, counsellors, senior advisers, and university teachers at the Medical Faculty of Ljubljana. Enlarged Medical Board discusses the issues that actually fall within the jurisdiction of Medical Board. If the latter considers that, in view of the significance of the subject matter under discussion, a wider forum of medical experts should be included into discussion, Enlarged Medical Board of the Institute of Oncology is convened by the medical director of the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana.
Nursing Board
Nursing Board deals with technical and organizational matters as well as with human resources management in nursing and care. The members of the Board are charge nurses of wards, departments and other units. The Board is chaired by assistant medical director for nursing. It meets twice per month. Its members are:
