Organization-wise, the Department of Anesthesiology is an integral part of the Division of Surgery. The work of an anesthesiologist at the Institute of Oncology is most diverse and multidisciplinary.

Here below are the tasks performed by the Department of Anesthesiology:

• preoperative examination and intensive preparation of cancer patients for surgery;
• surgical procedure;
• treatment of patients at the Intensive Care Unit of the Institute admitting the patients after extensive surgery and the patients from other departments of the Institute whose lives are at stake and urgently need intensive care;
• outpatient department for treatment of pain /palliative care;
• consultancy service for palliative and intensive care;
• reanimation team;
• active participation in hospital infection prevention and control and nutritional therapy of cancer patients.
