Work Areas

Informatics is a discipline that is involved in any of the work processes at the Institute of Oncology. It may be divided into two arms, medical and business informatics.

In 1990, an outline for setting up a medical informational system was designed. On the issues specified in this outline, an integrated hospital information system WebDoctor was developed in cooperation with Marand Ltd. Currently, the system is covering 80% of medical care requirements. The basic modules are:

  • EHR (electronic health record)
  • registration of patients
  • outpatient department
  • hospital
  • computerized data input
  • surgery
  • radiotherapy
  • chemotherapy
  • systemic treatment
  • laboratory
  • health services invoicing
  • billing
  • SPP
  • Cancer Registry of Slovenia
  • hospital cancer registry
  • Early cancer detection programs ZORA and DORA
  • management of cytostatics – CYPRO

The business informational system consists of several completely or partly interlinked applications:

  • human resource information system
  • ledger journal and accounts payable/receivable
  • inventory of fixed assets
  • salaries
  • storehouse operational system
  • pharmacy operational system
  • library

In view of 800 work stations linked to the computer system at the Institute of Oncology, the largest portion of the daily routine work of the employees in the Informatics Department is offering support to the users, advice on the use of software and help in eliminating errors. In order to assure high quality services, our team works with

  • computer-supported project management
  • electronic follow-up of current activities
