Hospital-based Cancer Registry of the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana
Hospital-based cancer registry of the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana
The Hospital-based Cancer Registry of the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana was established at the time of the Institute's foundation in 1938. It collects data on new patients diagnosed and treated at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana and transmits them to the Slovenian Cancer Registry.. As such, the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana is the only hospital in the country that employs specially trained nurses for the legally required reporting to the Cancer Registry. The data collected in the Hospital-based Cancer Registry is also of great value for the Institute's professional and research work. It is the basis for much of the clinical and epidemiological research conducted at the Institute. They are also crucial for reporting on the number and type of diagnostic and curative procedures performed at the Institute, which must be reported to the National Cancer Control Programme.
