Gašper Pilko

Assist. prof. Gašper Pilko, MD, Phd  is a specialist in general surgery, employed at the Department of Abdominal Surgery within the Division of Surgery. He is currently the head of the Division of Surgery and the head of the Department of Surgical Oncology. Additionally, he is an assistant professor of surgery at the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana. In 2014, he passed the European Board of Surgery examination in surgical oncology and earned the title of “Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (FEBS).” His work primarily focuses on the treatment and research of colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and malignant melanoma. He is part of the team that is the only one in Slovenia to perform hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for patients with peritoneal tumors. His research also includes the comprehensive rehabilitation of patients with colorectal cancer.
