Prof. Rok Petrič, PhD, is a specialist in general surgery, employed in the Abdominal Surgery Subdivision within the Surgical Operations Sector. Additionally, he is an associate professor at the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana, where he lectures medical and dental students. In 2011, he passed the European Board of Surgery exam in surgical oncology and obtained the title Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (FEBS). He is involved in the treatment of breast cancer, melanoma, colon and rectal cancer, and is also part of the team treating patients with peritoneal tumors, where cytoreductive surgery is combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). He is currently the head of the team implementing the ERAS protocol (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) for patients with colon and rectal cancer in the surgical department.
