Tajda Tavčar Kunstič, M.Sc. mol. function. biol., is a young researcher in the Department of Cytopathology. She is engaged in research on human papillomavirus (HPV) and the role of methylation in cervical cancer, which is important from the perspective of changing screening policy in the National Cervical Cancer Screening Program ZORA (V3-2320). She holds a Master’s degree in Molecular and Functional Biology and is currently a PhD student at the University of Ljubljana. She is also active in research of ovarian and breast cancer and the role of circulating tumor cells. She has previously worked with the Laboratory of Clinical Genetics at UKC Maribor and was part of the FonTacer Cancer Biology Laboratory at School of Veterinary Medicine, Texas Tech University, USA. She was involved in breast cancer research. She is currently involved in ARIS research projects, including the characteristics of malignant neoplasms important for diagnosis and prediction of disease course and treatment outcome (P3-0289). She is also a member of the Slovenian Biochemical Society.
