European registry for observational and prospective data collection on stereotactic radiotherapy for ventricular tachycardia
The STOPSTORM study collects data on patients treated with radiotherapy for heart rhythm disorders, specifically ventricular tachycardia, with the aim of improving the understanding of the disease and treatment effectiveness.
Ventricular tachycardia is a serious heart rhythm disorder that can be life-threatening. One modern treatment option is stereotactic radiotherapy of the heart, which enables non-invasive treatment also in patients in whom other methods have not been successful.
STOPSTORM is an international project involving many European centres. Its purpose is to connect data on treatment, imaging diagnostics and the course of the disease, thereby improving future treatment of patients.
Purpose of the study
To collect and analyse data on the safety and effectiveness of stereotactic radiotherapy in patients with ventricular tachycardia and to improve understanding of the disease course and treatment options.
Study procedure
This is a non-interventional registry study, meaning that it does not include any additional treatment or procedures.
Data are collected as part of regular examinations and treatment, without additional visits or tests. Data are collected on the disease, treatment, disease course, and results of tests and imaging diagnostics.
Study staff may also ask patients to complete quality-of-life questionnaires.
Who can take part?
Adult patients with ventricular tachycardia who are being treated, or will be treated, with stereotactic radiotherapy and agree to the collection of data.
How does inclusion take place?
The patient will be informed about the possibility of participation by a physician. Participation requires signing a consent form allowing the use of the patient’s health data for research purposes.
Participation is voluntary and may be withdrawn at any time without affecting further treatment.
The study does not pose an additional risk, as it does not involve additional procedures or changes to treatment.
Significance of the study
The collected data will contribute to a better understanding of the disease, improved treatment safety and the development of new guidelines for treating patients with heart rhythm disorders.
