Multicentre randomized clinical study on the impact of using the Ready4OP application before major oncological surgery on patients’ health literacy
Assessing the impact of using an application before major surgery on patients’ health literacy.
The study addresses health literacy before and after the use of the Ready4OP application. Patients may feel overwhelmed by the amount of health-related information they receive, and we would like to determine whether using the Ready4OP application could help them navigate this information more easily.
Purpose of the study
To determine whether the use of the Ready4OP smartphone application can improve health literacy in the field of surgical treatment and preparation for oncological surgery.
The study also aims to complement the standard way of providing health information before surgery and to offer patients additional advice in language that is easy to understand.
Study procedure
Participation in the study does not affect treatment or the course of surgery. Patients will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. Patients in the first group will receive a link to download the application to their smartphone, while patients in the second group will not use the application. All other procedures related to completing questionnaires and collecting data will be the same for all patients.
Participants are expected to complete three health literacy questionnaires at the first examination and before surgery, complete a survey on the use of the application, and take part in a telephone conversation 90 days after surgery.
Who can take part?
Patients with cancer who will undergo surgical treatment.
