Studying the role of circulating tumour cell clusters in patients with high-risk early breast cancer

Exploring the possibility of predicting the course of disease from blood samples in patients with breast cancer.

GALIA is a study investigating how the course of disease in patients with early breast cancer could be predicted from blood samples. In selected patients, the study will monitor circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and tumour DNA (ctDNA), which may appear in the blood at an early stage and may be associated with a higher risk of disease recurrence. The study does not test new medicines, but aims to better understand how the disease progresses and how it may be treated more effectively in the future.

Purpose of the study

To investigate how the course of disease in patients with early breast cancer could be predicted from blood samples.

Study procedure

You will receive standard treatment according to the latest professional guidelines. During your regular investigations, you will provide a few additional blood and tissue samples, which will be used exclusively for research analyses.

We will also monitor quality of life, particularly the impact of chemotherapy on memory and concentration, using simple questionnaires that you will complete several times during treatment.

Who can take part?

Patients with high-risk breast cancer that has not spread to other organs.
