ECHoS: Establishing Cancer Mission Hubs: beyond Networks and Synergies
ECHoS is a European project supporting the implementation of the EU Mission on Cancer by strengthening National Cancer Mission Hubs (NCMHs) as collaborative ecosystems connecting policymakers, healthcare professionals, researchers, patients, citizens and the business sector. Building on the foundations established by ECHoS (2023 - 2026), the project focuses on the consolidation, capacity building and long-term sustainability of NCMHs. It will support their development through structured training and peer learning, establish a formal European network of NCMHs and demonstrate the potential of multi-stakeholder collaboration. Through these activities, ECHoS aims to translate the objectives of the EU Mission on Cancer into measurable benefits for citizens and contribute to reducing inequalities in cancer outcomes across Europe.
The Oncology Institute Ljubljana (OI Ljubljana) participates in ECHoS as a project beneficiary. OI Ljubljana contributes to the development of the governance framework for the European Network of National Cancer Mission Hubs, including mechanisms that support the transparent, inclusive and effective operation and further development of the network. It also contributes to activities aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of both the network and individual NCMHs beyond the duration of the project.
OI Ljubljana is also involved in stakeholder and citizen engagement through structured and innovative outreach activities. This includes the development, piloting, evaluation and consolidation of accessible, inclusive and replicable approaches designed to deepen public understanding of cancer and encourage participation, dialogue and co-creation with diverse communities and stakeholders.
