EUnetCCC JA - European Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centre
The European Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres Joint Action (EUnetCCC JA) is an EU4Health initiative launched on October 1, 2024, building upon the achievements of the preceding CraNE Joint Action.
Its primary objective is to establish a cohesive and integrated consortium of Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCCs) across Europe, ensuring that all patients, regardless of their location, have access to high-quality cancer care.
EUnetCCC JA focuses on creating a sustainable structure for the EU Network of CCCs, enhancing access to comprehensive, high-quality cancer care, and developing a consensus model for CCCs. Specific aims include:
Sustainability: Ensuring the outputs of the Joint Action are implemented into cancer care structures across EU Member States.
Network Creation: Establishing an EU Network of national CCCs to improve care and reduce disparities across the EU.
Quality Improvement: Developing access to high-quality care in Comprehensive Cancer Care Networks (CCCNs) throughout all EU Member States.
Consensus Building: Formulating a consensus model for CCCs by identifying and analyzing current practices and organizational models in real-life settings.
The establishment of the European Comprehensive Cancer Centre (EUCCC) network represents a harmonized and integrated approach to cancer care across the continent. Its primary objective is to create a cohesive and integrated consortium of CCCs across Europe to ensure that all patients, regardless of their location, have access to high-quality care.
EUnetCCC JA will build on the work of the CraNE Joint Action, which prepared the necessary preconditions for the creation of Networks of Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCCs) in all EU countries and developed an EU network to connect these.
By fostering collaboration among CCCs, EUnetCCC JA aims to reduce disparities in cancer care across Europe, promote research and training opportunities, and ultimately improve patient outcomes. The project is expected to have several long-term positive impacts, including the establishment of the EU Network of CCCs, the gradual establishment of certified CCCs in all EU countries, and the strengthening of their collaboration with other networks.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia has nominated the following institutions from Slovenia to participate in the EUnetCCC JA project: the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana (OIL), the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), the University Medical Centre Maribor (UKCM), the University Medical Centre Ljubljana (UKCL), the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana (UL MF), the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Maribor (UM MF), and the University Clinic of Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy Golnik. The Institute of Oncology Ljubljana (OIL) is nominated as the lead partner in Slovenia (Competent Authority). The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Health.
