The European Joint Action on Personalised Cancer Medicine (JA PCM) project aims to improve access to personalized cancer treatment and personalized cancer prevention across Europe. This initiative focuses on improving cancer care through personalized approaches and addressing inequalities in access to healthcare and treatment.

Key areas include:

  • personalized prevention in healthy individuals and early cancer detection,

  • personalized cancer treatment and follow-up,

  • digital innovations for remote monitoring and education.

JA PCM brings together different organizations to develop joint solutions and promote personalized cancer treatment, addressing the needs of healthy individuals as well as cancer patients and survivors.

The work plan will be supported by several dedicated pilot projects and cross-cutting activities. The topics addressed by the pilot projects are the process, access, and implementation of early cancer detection based on risk assessment using polygenic scorecards and genetic predisposition to cancer, molecular tumor diagnostics, and multidisciplinary consultations for molecular-diagnostic tumor assessment , innovative models for the joint collection of treatment and risk data, molecular-genetic testing of liquid biopsies, and digital innovations for remote monitoring. Transversal activities include external quality assessments (EQA) for liquid biopsies, education and training, ELSI (ethical, legal, and social implications), HTA (health technology assessment), data, and access. The results will be assessed using a »patient care process readiness assessment tool.« The joint action will conclude with a »PCM in Europe« roadmap and a sustainability plan, aligned with other initiatives under the European Blueprint to Combat Cancer (EBCP).
