JANE - 2 The EU Joint Action on Networks of Expertise on cancer
The Joint Action to Establish Networks of Expertise in Cancer (JANE-2) project is a joint action whose main objective is to establish seven networks of expertise in cancer care, and to enable them to fulfil their mission effectively.
The Expert Networks have been conceptualised based on the results of the JANE project (2022-2024) and will cover the following areas:
Complex and poor prognosis cancers
Personalized primary prevention
Survivorship
Palliative care
Omics technologies
Hi-tech medical resources
Adolescentrs and young adults with cancer
JANE-2 will provide the project institutions with the means to develop and fulfil their mission for the benefit of European citizens. The main activities will thus include the development or support of clinical practice guidelines and/or general recommendations for health professionals, patients and the public, public awareness raising and advocacy/policy actions, the development of models for the organisation of health care, the development of educational initiatives/tools for health professionals and patients, efforts to promote research, the development of quality criteria for accreditation/validation mechanisms and the involvement of patients and the public in these activities. Each of the seven networks will be assigned its own work package, while dissemination, evaluation and sustainability will be covered by 4 additional work packages and will be organized throughout all seven networks.
Healthcare networking is one of the EU's strengths, enabling a coordinated approach to improving the health of half a million citizens. In Slovenia, by joining this project, we will be able to better achieve the objectives set out in the DPOR, with a focus on ensuring comparable and high-quality care for patients across the entire care pathway across all providers, establishing a common formal cooperation agreement between institutions, ensuring the full spectrum of oncology research and linking research and care, with an emphasis on digitalisation. The added value of the project will also be in the area of prevention, through the development of new materials and collaboration in the development of new screening programmes, and in the area of training patients and families to better understand the disease.
The Ministry of Health has nominated the following Slovenian institutions to participate in JANE-2: OI Ljubljana, UKCL, URI SOČA, UL MF, and NIJZ with OI Ljubljana nominated as the lead partner in Slovenia (Competent Authority).
The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia.
